Hooligans caused damage to the new stadium in Limassol worth more than 25,000 euros

On Wednesday, January 11, hooligans damaged the new Alfamega Stadium in Limassol to the tune of more than 25,000 euros.

The incident occurred during a derby between AEL and Apollo.

The hulzes of both teams staged a “chairfall” in the north and east stands during the halftime break.

The police said they had photos and videos in their hands and arrests were inevitable.

The hooligans destroyed more than 200 seats, as well as breaking part of the glass partition and causing damage to the stadium toilets.

After the end of the first half, a firecracker was fired at the AEL fan sector, then the AEL fans approached the dividing railing, which provoked aggression from the Apollo supporters.

The incident lasted about five minutes and ended after the intervention of a special police unit.

Already now there are questions why the fan sectors were not initially separated by police forces.
