Orchids are very popular and perennial plants located almost around the world. Orchids are the most common in the tropical forests of Asia and America. The orchid family has more than 30 thousand types and varieties. At that time, the number of hybrids created by mankind has about 17 million.
Most epiphytic orchids have simple leaves, rarely folded, and very often with a central pronounced vein. The leaves of some orchids are durable and can live on a plant for about ten years. However, there are many types that dump foliage every year – this allows them to reduce evaporation during the dry season. There are orchids that are characterized by leaves having a bright color. Such types of orchids are very beautiful. It happens that the flowers are not very pretty, but the leaves are simply gorgeous, and it is difficult to look away from them. Thanks to their leaves, orchids are divided into several groups. The most popular groups of orchids are “precious orchids” and “variegated orchids”. All orchids can be divided into two large subspecies – ground and epiphytic.

There are two ways to grow these plants: intensive and traditional. The foundations for the traditional method were laid back in the 19th century, but today it has not lost its relevance somewhat. This method is used in most botanical gardens and amateur gardeners. The main feature for this method is a very strict alternation of peace and growth seasons, as well as the confusion of the growth of the orchid to the most optimal season of the year (in most cases – summer).
The intensive method is used in the industrial culture of the cultivation of orchids and is considered the most modern. The main characteristic of this method is that plants are watered immediately after the end of biological rest. Plants begin their growth, despite the season of the year. This makes it possible to receive two, and more growths of orchids during one calendar year.

Orchids planted in a basket must be watered a little different. Namely, it is necessary to immerse the entire lump of the substrate into the water. You can also act with plants that grow on blocks. For spraying orchids, a couple of simple rules should be learned. Orchids are forbidden to spray if they are on the open sun – since there may be manifestations of burns that disfigure the orchid.
