In early July, the project managers signed the first contracts for the placement of exhibits and other equipment in a new unusual museum — the Turtle Museum.
The museum will open in the village of Inia, Paphos district. The head of the community, Yangos Tsivikos, said that the museum will work in the space that has already been prepared on the restored central square of Inii. As Mr. Tsivikos noted, the room is completely ready, now the installation of special equipment and internal repairs of the museum are underway.
Yangos Tsivikos stressed that the equipment worth 350,000 euros has already begun to arrive in the community in parts, but since the delivery is from abroad, the museum will be open by the summer season of 2023.
The museum will consist of two halls with an area of 150 square meters, in which exhibits and information related to turtles and their habitat in Lara and Akamas will be displayed.
The Turtle Museum will function as an educational and environmental center with seminars, lectures and other educational events. Students of schools, other educational institutions and organized groups will be able to attend it.
