The number of tourists in Cyprus in January broke a record

In January 2023, 90,549 tourists visited Cyprus, which is 106.1% more compared to the same month last year, when this figure was 43,944.

The largest number of tourists came from the United Kingdom, which accounted for 20.6% (18,631) of the total number of arrivals, followed by Israel 16.6% (14,991), Poland 12.3% (11,166) and Greece 11.6% (10,459).

The main purpose of a trip to the island for foreigners in January 2023 was rest (64.8%). Many tourists visited Cyprus to see friends or relatives (21.4%). Business trips also prevailed among the reasons (13.4%).

Interestingly, interest in Cyprus as a tourist destination is gradually growing.

So the island entered the TOP 10 travel destinations in 2022. The island was placed on the second line 87.1%).

Turkey became the leader (87.9%), Croatia took the third place (86.5%). The top ten popular destinations for tourism included Greece (86.2%), Malta (85.8%), Bulgaria (82.8%), Egypt (80.4%), Israel (79.9%) and Tunisia (73.3%).
